We are a not-for-profit company based in London and operating mainly in the rural areas of Guinea-Bissau. We obtain funding from public and private sector in order to offer education, support and training mainly to the young people in the area of engineering and technology at a nominal cost. We also use the funding to support Bissau-Guinean young people and women business startups and give training for leadership and entrepreneurship for free or at very low cost. Our support to the businesses can be mainly in terms of advice, mentoring, workshops, markerting, finance and networking opportunities.
Offer advanced youth learning and bridge the gap between Guinea-Bissau rural community and advanced engineering and technology.
Opportunity for all our students to learn and prosper in improved communities. Opportunity for their female family members to gain skills and confidence to start their own businesses. Use engineering and technology to support students, families and communities mainly in the rural areas of Guinea-Bissau.
Acting ethically, at NSEF we listen to local people and respect their diversity in terms of culture and ideas. We help them to maximise their resources by setting clear objectives, give support and monitor the performance.
Nita Sá Engineering Foundation 2017-2021 project plan
The Proposals named “MININU DI GUINÉ” and “NÔ FIRKIDJA” introduced by the Nenita Sá Engineering Foundation aim at developing infrastructures and educational programmes to support farming, education, health and community transformation.
NSEF’s Global Office in the UK is the administrative centre of the project. This UK-based Think Tank is at the heart of research and development that supports social innovative initiatives in Guinea-Bissau. The NSEF’s Regional Office in Guinea-Bissau has the mission of providing the national leadership needed to realise new opportunities and to guide Bissau Guinean communities in responding to the United Nations (UN) Development Objectives and also the government-led initiatives in the country.
The proposition has five intervention components for the 2017-2021 period:
- campaigning for the infrastructure needs of the NSEF project in Guinea-Bissau;
- developing education and skills training programmes for women, youth and children;
- supporting access to technology and science for youth and children;
- improving communities by promoting access to engineering and technology; mainly for the organisations that have social and environmental objectives as their core mission;
- helping Bissau Guinean descendants to look for opportunities in Guinea-Bissau.
“Supporting education, quality assistance to the community and to influence the actions in favour of Guinea-Bissau engineering.”

We innovate maintaining the tradition.
We are an UK-based engineering and technology thinktank project dedicated to Guinea-Bissau. Our research work is mainly performed in academic institutions and focused on addressing the problems of Bissau-Guinean society. We believe in education and engineering as long-term investments to help to take the social development of communities of Guinea-Bissau further. We work in partnership with educational authorities and local communities in order to offer high-quality education, access to necessary tools and training for young people and women of Bissau-Guinean. We aim to have a transformative impact in the communities by contributing to creation of a workforce which has the skills, the attitudes, the discipline and the ideas to operate better in an increasingly globalised world.
NSEF must be ‘flexible and imaginative enough’ to help to respond to people demand change in Guinea-Bissau. At NSEF we believe there are changes we can make that will not just benefit our customers but also will benefit their families and communities in general. Work together
