Education and community development

NSEF UK Programmatic paths for change.

This project started in 2016 to provide support for education and community development in Guinea-Bissau using mainly two programs. Through the programs set for each area were created the respective project names and targets for achievement. We also constantly re-evaluate NSEF’s intervention strategy in order to address new situations prevailing in the country, regarding the two following programmatic areas:

  1. Improve quality education with Maria da Conceição Té Institute;
  2. and actively work for local community development and support socio-cultural and environmental initiatives through Active Guinea-Bissau.

To achieve good results in these intervention sectors will require the mobilization of human and financial resources, and establishing partnerships based on the dynamic sharing of costs and duties.

NSEF to unlock potentials.

NSEF’s view on quality education in Guinea-Bissau, it is that because the early years of life have been acknowledged as the most crucial for the optimum development of an individual.

Then on its persecution mission, NSEF is pioneering work in the field of engineering and ecological education at the early age which aims at forming Guinean engineers and leaders with skills, discipline and attitude to help future development of Bissau Guinean society.

Therefore NSEF is developing the first engineering incubator in Guinea-Bissau.

The Foundation also intends to have a crucial involvement in the process of revision and actualization of the Development of National Educational Strategy, as well as later integration in the operational development of infrastructures for quality in the Public national schools.

Therefore the centre domains of this NSEF educational program are shown below:

  1. Promotion of investment and PPP in terms of education in the country. Also the identification of opportunities with very high potential investment in the education sector;
  2. To promote projects and programs for student entrepreneurship and innovation as a means to help development and increased competitiveness of the national economy.
  3. Development of activities aiming to contribute to the depth of the national educational integration and to work with initiatives to help to develop the skills they need;

NSEF people investor projects.

The community development section of NSEF is nothing more than a strategic partnership with agencies and the local authorities in order to materialize strategically important infrastructures and programs that contribute to the community empowerment work of Active Guinea-Bissau.

The Foundation has always aimed to positively create and help transform initiatives which support the welfare of children, empowering women/youth and healthy communities. It is intended that the work of this section of NSEF will assist the public and private sectors in supporting social cohesion and the wellbeing of the communities.

This assistance will bring increased economic prosperity to the people and will help lay the foundations of a better future and life mainly for the people in the rural communities of Guinea-Bissau.

The Foundation’s key objectives from such partnership are:

  1. To offer "philanthropic engineering services" for the needy in order to reduce poverty and rural community structural disadvantage;
  2. Support farming industry, youth and female agribusinesses to increase their competitiveness in the current market;
  3. Support voluntary services to the community and how this can benefit the community will be promoted. Also, create and support businesses with social and environmental objectives in Guinea-Bissau;
  4. Help identify a range of opportunities to help create growth from developing new skills, innovative ideas to securing critical investment within the communities
  5. Better organize local communities in order to help contour the fragility of the human situation (177/185 on the UN Human Development Index) and to help improve coverage of the country in basic and important services such as education and agribusiness.
