CATALYSING SOLUTIONS

FOR LOCAL PROBLEMS

The Nenita Sá Engineering Foundation (NSEF) was established in 2016 by Bissau Guinea-born Helder da Silva (BEng, PhD, MIET, IEEE) and it is promoted mainly by Bissau Guineans, with the collaboration of partners mainly in the UK, Portugal and Guinea-Bissau.

Guinea-Bissau community needs effective social and educational programs to help address a long history of poverty, low levels of education, gender gap, disadvantage in technological advances, and biodiversity conservation gaps.

We provide educational opportunities, business ideas, technical solutions and training skills that mainly empower Bissau Guinean women, families and young people. And all the profits generated by our initiatives are re-invested to further improve and increase our services for community empowerment.

Quality education is at the heart of our project, and there is nothing more rewarding to us than developing future professional that can deliver tangible results to the Guinean's community economy and society.

Committed to excellence and high impact, we support efforts to enhance education, and to organise and support the development of communities, up-skill local people and to help to improve the understanding of people going to business in the local communities.

We will help to develop a good educational environment and to inspire future generations of Bissau Guineans.

Mission and objectives

Help level plain field and Be a leading institution

Community to enjoy a better quality of life without disadvantage

The NSEF project is needed in Guinea-Bissau because people in the country suffer disproportionate levels of poverty, lack of education and inequalities.
Those who have managed to move and live in the UK continue to suffer higher levels of poverty, lack of education and inequality.

These low levels of education affect over 65% of Guinea-Bissau descendants who live internationally.

Therefore NSEF was founded:

  • to be at heart of research and development that supports social innovation initiatives in the community;
  • to provide the leadership needed to realise new opportunities and to guide communities in responding to the development of achievable goals and also the government-led initiatives;
  • to be campaigning for the infrastructure needs of the project;
  • continuously developing education and skills training programs for families, women, youth and children;
  • to be supporting access to technology and science education for young people in the community;
  • and to support access to technology for the organisations that have social and environmental objectives as their core mission in Guinea-Bissau.

NSEF Project for Real Change

People in Guinea-Bissau suffer disproportionate levels of poverty, lack of education and inequalities. Around 49% of the population live in extreme poverty and 78% of the students fails to complete secondary school (studies in 2015). Low levels of education affect over 65% of these descendants in the UK and worldwide.
