Significant Gender Inequality

Bissau Guinean women

Currently, Bissau Guinean society suffers from gender inequality and needs initiatives such as Woman House to create incremental, lasting change in communities around the gender issue.

According to the UN gender inequality index in 2014, the country was ranked 178th out of 188 countries. Only around 41% of women are able to read and write in a basic form when compared to nearly 70% of men.
